How to set up your Oliver James Lilo

Oliver James Lilos are designed and crafted for countless summers, providing the same comfort and durability for years of floating. With a few straightforward tips, you can get the most life out of your Lilo.

Setting Up Your Lilo

To set up any Oliver James Lilo, first find a flat, dry, clean surface wide enough to unfold your Lilo.

For Gen II Lilos (Ring II, Single II, Double II):

1. Unzip the compression zip on the LiloCase, followed by the opening zip.

2. Open the LiloCase, unstrap the velcro straps, and move the straps to the side. 

3. Locate the valve window. Open the valve window to expose the valve. Open the valve cap by unscrewing counter-clockwise. Ensure you are not unscrewing the valve core while undoing the cap.

4. Attach the inflation adaptor (the longer of the two adaptors) to the INFLATE port on the pump. Attach the pump to the valve by pressing firmly to fit the adaptor into the valve. 

5. Press the power button on the pump. If the pump does not begin inflating, hold the power button down for 3-5 seconds, until the blue light begins to flash. Then, press the power button again to begin inflating.

6. Step back and watch the Lilo inflate. You do not need to unfold, unfurl, or touch the Lilo during this process.
   The included pump will until the Lilo will have inflated to your desired pressure level. Your Lilo is at its most comfortable when the LiloCover is mostly smooth, but does not need to be overly firm or inflated to the point where wrinkles no longer appear in the fabric. Turn off the pump by pressing the power button again.

7. Remove the pump from the valve and attach the valve cap by screwing it onto the valve body in a clockwise direction. 

8. Check the LiloCover is aligned with the LiloCore. Adjust as needed.

9. Float, relax, and see the day through from the comfort of your Oliver James Lilo.

For Gen I Lilos (Ring I, Single I, Double I):

1. Unfold the Lilo, and orient it with the base facing up.

2. Locate the velcro valve window. Open the valve window to expose the valve. Open the valve cap by unscrewing counter-clockwise. Ensure you are not unscrewing the valve core while undoing the cap.

3. Attach the inflation adaptor (the longer of the two adaptors) to the INFLATE port on the pump. Attach the pump to the valve by pressing firmly to fit the adaptor into the valve. 

4. Ensure the pump is removed from the charger before use. Press the power button on the pump two times quickly to begin inflation.

5. After 2-4 minutes, the Lilo will have inflated to your desired pressure level. Your Lilo is at its most comfortable when the LiloCover is mostly smooth, but does not need to be overly firm or inflated to the point where wrinkles no longer appear in the fabric. Turn off the pump by pressing the power button again.

6. Remove the pump from the valve and quickly attach the valve cap by screwing it onto the valve body in a clockwise direction. 

7. Check the LiloCover is aligned with the LiloCore. Adjust as needed.

8. Float, relax, and see the day through from the comfort of your Oliver James Lilo.

For Hammocks

1. Unfold the Lilo. 

2. Locate the valve cover. There are two on each Hammock. Unzip the valve windows on each inflatable to expose the valve. For twist valves, twist counterclockwise to release. For post valves, pull the valve up from its recessed position in the inflatable core.

3. Blow each inflatable up until it reaches the desired firmness. Alternatively, use the inflate adaptor and the OJL rechargeable pump (sold separately).

4. Check the LiloCover is correctly aligned with the inflatable cores. Adjust as needed.

5. Close the valve cover.

6. Sit in the Hammock, find your most comfortable position, and bring the relaxation with you.

Storing Your Lilo

Before storing or deflating your Lilo, ensure it is completely dry. You may need to set the Lilo aside for a day to completely dry out. Lay the Lilo on a flat, dry, clean surface away from the water.

1. Locate the valve window at the back of your Lilo and open it to reveal the valve.

2. Remove the valve body, allowing air to escape. Keep the valve body and valve cap in a safe space to avoid being lost.

3. Attach the deflation adaptor (the shorter of the two adaptors) to the DEFLATE port on the pump, and press it into the valve.

4. Turn the pump on.

5. Wait for all the air to leave the Lilo. Be patient and allow the pump time to do its work. Forcing air out of the Lilo by pressing on the Lilo can cause damage to the LiloCore and pump.

6. Once fully deflated, quickly reattach the valve body and valve cap by screwing clockwise into the valve port. 

7. Lay the Lilo out flat. Smooth out any creases and fold as demonstrated below.

8. Strap the lilo using the included belt or LiloCase

9. If the lilo does not fit into the bag, repeat steps 4-8.

10. Store your Lilo in a cool and dry place, ready for Lilo weather to return.

Using Your Lilo

There isn’t really a wrong way to use your Oliver James Lilo. But there are a few things to keep in mind when you’re making the most of Lilo weather. 

Your Lilo floats, but it’s not a lifesaving device. Always use your Lilo close to the shore, dock, pool edge, or other fixed object to avoid drifting away.

When you’re not using your Lilo, keep it out of the pool to avoid the base and cover fabrics rubbing against the pool edge. 

Always let the Lilo dry out before storage, to avoid mold and mildew. 

Don’t jump on your Lilo. 

Try out different seating or laying positions to find what suits you. The Lilo’s shape lends itself to multiple comfortable arrangements.
