Oliver James draws inspiration from life’s beautiful experiences. When we create a Lilo it isn’t just a product to us, it’s part of creating time for family to come together and enjoy the simplest and happiest of moments. We want to build an experience around our Lilo’s and we hope that you appreciate them as much as we do. They are made to be loved.
Our first collection includes six luxury upholstered Lilo’s curated through thoughtful craftsmanship, durable materials and striking fabrics. We deliver pieces of handsome floating furniture that are intended to give you a little piece of oasis wherever life might take you. Whether that be by the pool, lakeside, or out on the open water.
Our story pays homage to my childhood, spent playfully basking in the summer sun at our family home in the south of France. The property, Mas des Oliviers was named after the 18 olive trees scattered throughout the vast garden. We loved playing amongst them and spending long languid days relaxing around the terracotta-tiled swimming pool. Our intent is to bring that youthful spirit back into homes around the world, whilst upholding a commitment to true design integrity.
Throughout my childhood our favourite games involved blue and white inflatable Lilos, those of which I still have the fondest of memories of. We would begin by inconspicuously hiding in the garden, patiently waiting for our parents to relax into their pool floats, before bombarding them with a series of cannonballs – soaking them head to toe.
As summer drew on, our Lilos would inevitably puncture, and it was my job to repair them. I used to fix them up with super glue and home-made patches, desperate to make them last just a few more weeks. When a Lilo was beyond repair, we would have to replace it. Which meant my summer was now spent doing odd jobs around the house to make up the pocket money to do so.
When I was eventually asked to find a pool float that would match the aesthetic of our family home, and last longer than a few months, I couldn’t. So, I started designing Lilos, a few years later, Oliver James was born.
We hope you love what we’ve come up with, we sure do.
